Dr. Daniel Ling was much more than the name of the Six Sound Test, he was a colleague and friend of mine. When I relocated from Ohio in 1988, Dan referred my first auditory-verbal family in Illinois that later launched my private practice, the Auditory Verbal Center of Wheaton. A career highlight for me was the opportunity to share the stage with Dr. Ling at one of the "MASTER THERAPIST" workshops.
This set of Ling Six Sound Test cards is to be used with listening checks of a child’s hearing technology. For toddlers and young children pair the cards with real objects or toys to represent each of the Ling Sounds.
Dr. Ling was a pioneer of Auditory-Verbal practice, past-president of the AG Bell Association, a founding member of Auditory-Verbal International and the principles currently adopted for Listening and Spoken Language Specialists. Of his many contributions to the field, he is most known for the Ling Six Sound Test (Ling, 2006).
